Miami Seaquarium - NEW Sea Trek Helmet Diving

The new Sea Trek Reef Encounter – unveiled at Miami Seaquarium in November 2011 feels like walking on the moon, only you are submerged in a surreal underwater paradise where colourful tropical fish, large groupers, cobia, stingrays, lobsters and moray eels abound.

What makes this a novel is that it is a helmet diving experience that allows guests to become at one with the park’s reef aquarium, while moving in ethereal slow motion in a near zero gravity diving system.

Sea Trekking, developed by Sub Sea Systems, Inc. can be experienced by non-divers, ages 10 and above – no certification or swimming skills are necessary. In the magnificent Reef Aquarium at Miami Seaquarium participants may Sea Trek as deep as 15 feet under the sea.

An experience once only reserved for the scuba diver, the Sea Trek Reef Encounter will allow guests to get up close with the vast assortment of tropical fish and Marine Life species in the park’s 300,000 gallon Reef Aquarium. This is a one-of-a-kind experience here in South Florida. If you can walk and breathe then you can Sea Trek !!

The Sea Trek Helmet Diving System is controlled by a compressor system that supplies compressed breathing air to the helmets via a series of filtration components on to a control console and manifold which regulates the air flow to Sea Trekking participants. Unlike deep sea diving, the participant’s entire head stays dry throughout the entire experience.

The Sea Trek Reef Encounter at Miami Seaquarium lasts for approximately 90 minutes including an orientation session and will cost you $99 plus tax per participant. The program fee includes same day admission to the park.
